Job Posting: Lighting Assessor / Junior Lighting Designer

Summary

The Lighting Assessor / Junior Lighting Designer, under the direction of the Senior Designer(s), is primarily responsible for developing (in association with multiple departments), the lighting specifications and standards for our clients. This position requires the individual to work with multiple departments, ensuring that all areas are abreast of the requirements for the job. The Lighting Assessor / Junior Lighting Designer will work with existing resources and client demands. This individual must be innovative, creative and a team player and be able to lead by example in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Job Duties
• Conduct on-site lighting assessments
• Identify lighting sources and fixture types, with potential control systems opportunities
• Meet with clients asking probing questions to determine needs and usages
• Conceive creative concepts in response to client needs, translating such concepts into proposal baselines
• Identify opportunities for energy reduction while maintaining lighting needs
• Identify challenges and make practical suggestions for overcoming them
• Assist senior designers in the development of lighting programs
• Review technical construction drawings and documents
• Assist with the coordination and implementation of lighting retrofit programs
• Meet with various department members ensuring they understand and are familiar with the proposed program
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma preferred
• Excellent oral and written English communications skills, with moderate experience in writing technical reports
• Familiarity with CAD software manual drafting is an asset
• Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, while exercising appropriate business judgement
• Demonstrate innovative and creative thinker
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to excel in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated effective deadline management and project management skills
• Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with a broad range of individuals, including key members of design teams, various stakeholders and clientele
• Ability to analyze and interpret client requirements
• High level of familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Work Conditions
• Valid G driver’s licence required
• Ability to travel in Canada
